It was while I was in the process of creating my website that I became aware of the importance of colour. It is not a topic that I had given a lot of thought about before. I could not even really tell you what my favourite colour was.
I now know it is magenta - it is the colour I see when I close my eyes and be quiet.
I have never thought of myself as creative in the usual sense of the word and I had not given colour too much thought in the past. When I was in the corporate world I wore my black, dark grey or navy suits. Looking back, I never felt very comfortable wearing black. Even at home I wore a lot of dark grey and chocolate brown.
The thoughts about colour kept persisting, both personally and for my business.
All of a sudden I just could not bear to wear all my dark coloured clothes. I had never worn much red before (except I have had a thing for red shoes - the only thing I bought when we went to Florence while I was pregnant) and was wanting a red t-shirt. I found a great one at the market and started wearing it all the time. I got rid of all my dark knickers and stocked up on lots of colourful ones.
On the business front, I had almost agreed with my graphic designer that we would go for a dark grey website as we wanted it to look fashionable, but something was just not right. The colours green and red kept popping into my head but I just did not think they would work together well on the website and for my packaging.
Then I came across some great resources.
I had recently become interested in the writings of Rudolf Steiner and I happened to find a book by him called "Colour" at Amazon and I could not resist it.
Then when I got my mandala for my book cover, Margie gave me the name of a wonderful woman called Linda Graham who has a great website www.colourresonance.com.au with lots of informaton about colour. Linda was so helpful and also did a business name colour analysis for me, which involves looking at the colours that correspond to the letters of your business name. Apparently each letter of the alphabet corresponds to a specific colour and Linda conducted a breakdown of my business name using the 12 colour wheel. Guess what colours came up - red, green and magenta. Red and green are healing colours.
So that just confirmed what I had been thinking. Then I came across a wonderful website, www.colourlovers.com. It is a place to check out the world of colour, colour trends and colour palettes. It is a beautiful site and all the colours that people were playing around with gave me some great ideas for my website. Check it out - although I warn you, it is addictive.
Then while I was having a quick look in the Theosophical Society Bookshop, a wonderful book caught my eye. It was "The Aura-Soma Sourcebook - Colour Therapy for the Soul" by Mike Booth and Carol McKnight. I instantly fell in love with these amazing bottles. The photography in this book just captivated me. But more about Aura-Soma another time. Suffice to say, I could not bear to be without my Aura-Soma bottles.
I now know that colour has a profound impact on our lives and I am having lots of fun exploring the wonderful world of colour.
So if I have sparked your interest in colour, as you can see there are lots of ways to incorporate more colour into your life from the clothes you wear to the colours for your business.

Thanks for that. I read Vicky Wall's biography a while ago - the equilibrium bottles are so amazing! The magenta I see is like the colour of my logo.
I look forward to checking out your website again soon.
